DESCRIPTION:Many applications benefit from the ability to intercept\, block
\, or modify system calls efficiently. Binary rewriting is one of the fast
est techniques to achieve this\, but it often relies on instruction-depend
ent heuristics that limit its applicability. To date\, exhaustive rewritin
g techniques (introduced by zpoline) are only available for x86-64 ISA. Th
is work introduces vpoline\, the first fully heuristics-free system call i
nterception library for RISC-V. By leveraging the RISC-V linker relaxation
mechanism\, vpoline achieves the same benefits as zpoline while overcomin
g the intrinsic limitation of requiring privileged access.
