DESCRIPTION:The RISC-V software ecosystem has grown steadily over the last
few years. For embedded software it is reasonably complete\, with good com
piler\, RTOS\, and IDE support. The Linux kernel is also well supported\,
with RISC-V long having upstream support\, and RVA23 now supported too. Ca
nonical moved to requiring RVA23 with the release of Ubuntu 25.10\, ready
for the next generation of RISC-V silicon. But building out a data center
takes more than just a good desktop experience. This poster/paper will exa
mine the other elements required including provisioning\, hypervisors\, co
ntainers\, orchestration\, and also discusses how to manage custom instruc
tions\, security\, maintenance. Going beyond theory\, it discusses the dat
a center Canonical will be building to include RISC-V RVA23 silicon suppor
ting the Launchpad.net community website as well as other uses.
